Hello everyone, regarding the need to assist reading with AI by uploading documents, ChatGPT users can currently only achieve this functionality through third-party websites or plugins, and most of them are paid.

Therefore, someone has developed a plugin that allows you to implement this functionality directly on the official ChatGPT page. It is called chatgpt-file-uploader-extended, a free and open-source browser plugin.
Principle#
The principle is to provide the file you provide in segments to ChatGPT and use prompts to let ChatGPT know that these are segmented documents. After receiving the prompt indicating that the last segment has been uploaded, ChatGPT will analyze the content and answer the questions you ask next.
Of course, all of this is automatic, so you don't have to worry about it. Just upload the document.
Settings#
Before using it, we need to click on the gear icon to set the Chunk Size, which refers to the size of each chunk of characters that will be sent to ChatGPT. The larger the file, the smaller this value should be, resulting in more segments and longer processing time. However, the official recommendation is around 10,000-15,000.
Below that, it shows the supported document formats, which amount to 35 in total. It supports both common and uncommon formats, so you can upload without worrying about compatibility.
For the prompt page, you don't need to make any changes and can keep the default settings. However, if you understand it or have other requirements, you can customize it.
As for the settings for compressed files, it supports uploading compressed files, but if you don't need to analyze all the files in the compressed package, you can use this setting to ignore specific formats. If you don't need it, you can keep the default settings.

That's about it. You can directly upload the documents you need ChatGPT to assist you in reading, such as analyzing various books, translating papers, and summarizing articles.
